The six able devices of Bodhisattvas:

(1) preaching deep truths in simple form to lead on people gladly to believe;

(2) promising them every good way of realizing their desires, of wealth, etc.;

(3) showing a threatening aspect to the disobedient to induce reform;

(4) rebuking and punishing them with a like object;

(5) granting wealth to induce grateful offerings and almsgiving;
